Hi all! Are you ready for a real blog post? It’s been awhile, but I’m trying to get back on the horse here at More Than Just Dessert.
Get it? Muahaha, love bad humor.
Furthermore, I’m also trying to get back into a healthy eating and exercise routine. Easier said than done. In discovering my like (not love, still can’t go there) for eating vegetables over the past year, I’ve done a much better job at filling my grocery cart with healthy produce than before I lost weight. However, I am notorious for not eating it all during the week and throwing out a lot of stuff after it’s gone bad.
I know, I know. It’s awful and I’m working on it! There are a couple things that I’ve forced myself to do in the past couple weeks that have had a big impact on my veggie consumption for the better. Here goes…
The first thing, is washing my produce right when I get home from the store or farmer’s market. It only takes an extra 5 minutes and I find that I’m more willing to grab veggies and fruits in the fridge during the week (while I’m scrambling and running late probably) if they are already clean!
Second, I try to prep healthy, quick snacks on weekends to have during the week! This week, I bought all my salsa ingredients at the farmer’s market and prepped it on Sunday to snack on all week!
Lastly, in addition to washing fresh produce right away, I also try and package the snacky produce items (green beans, pepper strips, grapes) into individual sized portions so I can just grab and go for lab during the week! I tell you, this has HELPED ME TREMENDOUSLY to eat more veggies over the past couple weeks. My lazy self has had zero excuse to not take green beans and hummus as a snack to work and I don’t find myself as tempted to head out for an afternoon ice cream as in the past. 🙂 You can also reuse the baggies!
