My next food destination in DC was my favorite mexican restaurant out there, Tortilla Coast. Tortilla Coast is located super close to the capitol right off of the capitol south metro station (blue and orange lines). I first ate there 11 years ago when my family went on vacation to visit my aunt K in her then-new location! Every time I have been here the food has been delicious, the bill inexpensive, and the service-absolutely friendly. We visited here for lunch on a friday after a morning of breakfast cupcakes and the Smithsonian American History museum (my fave smithsonian!). We weren’t extremely hungry, so we decided to share two dishes and take the rest home!
The first dish we shared is my absolute favorite here- the “Bone-Daddy” Chicken Nachos! These are loaded with chicken, black beans, pico de gallo, and lots of cheese. They are extremely flavorful and I advise anyone to split them with someone!
The 2nd dish we tried was a new one, the Arturo’s Special Enchiladas. These enchiladas had a great orange-pineapple salsa on them that made them IRRESISTABLE!
In the end, I was glad we split both entrees in order to experience something new, while getting the goodness of an old favorite. We only ate about half of each, so K had some yummy leftovers for lunch the next day! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quick tex-mex meal that is on a budget!
