Last week, I posted about some crafts that I had made. This week, I’ll post how to do them! First up, canvas quote art…sooo easy!
The first one I made from an old picture I found at a thrift store. I took it out of the frame, stuck on the letters, used acrylic paint to pain over the letters, let the paint dry, pulled off the letters, mod podged the whole thing, and bam! all done.
I did have a few problems getting the letters off and having only part of them removed, so I used a toothpick to pry under there so the picture would show through. In a few spots, it completely ripped off the picture, so I just filled in with some paint…can you tell? I sure can’t anymore!
The second quotable art I used a blank canvas (available in a twin pack at hobby lobby for cheap!). I found a few colors of acrylic paint I liked and did the same thing that I did to the first one!
Again, it didn’t turn out perfect…but from a few feet away you can’t even tell! Make sure you press the letters down so that the paint doesn’t seep underneath, or use a thinner layer of paint around the letters (be gentle!) than on other parts of the canvas. If the letters don’t come off completely, just use a toothpick! Also, you only need a thin layer of mod podge on top, otherwise it will glob up!
I’m looking into making more for friends etc., and am always looking for good quotes. What would you put on your quotable art?
