DC Eats- Round 2

Looking for more places to eat around DC?  Another round for y’all!

Ping –Shirlington area (Virginia)

Ping is a sister restaurant to Charlie Chang’s and has great Asian Fusion (I still have no idea what that concept is)/Chinese food.  It’s located in Shirlington in the CUTEST neighborhood bursting with restaurants!   I have eaten at Ping a few times before this trip and have always had a good meal!  This time we ordered the crab rangoons for an appetizer, my sister and I split the sesame chicken entree (bottom left), and my aunt ordered the Schezuan green beans with chicken (bottom right).   The sesame chicken entree we ordered was huge and I’m so glad we split it!  I tried a little bit of all the dishes and have no complaints at all, they were delicious!

The price range for entrees at Ping are around $12-15 , but you get a lot of food and they are easily split dishes!

Sweet Frog Fro-Yo- Arlington, VA

We decided we needed a sweet treat after our meal at Ping and Sweet Frog Fro-Yo happened to be on our way in Arlington back into the district.  They have lots of flavors to choose fro and lots of toppings!  You can’t really go wrong with fro-yo, in my opinion, and sweet frog definitely does it right!

Park Tavern- Southeast DC (Navy Yard Metro Stop)

Park Tavern is a newer restaurant near the National’s Stadium on the border of Southeast DC.  My aunt’s friend had heard that it was new, so we decided to meet her for dinner there since it was close by!

The southwest/southeast area by the Nationals stadium has not always been the nicest, cleanest, or prettiest part of DC in the past.  However, over the past few years they have rebuilt and remodeled much of the area and it has really come along!  It is cleaner and there are some new restaurants and businesses popping up.  Park Tavern has a beautiful atmosphere with tons of natural light and looks like a great place to catch a game!   img 5582 thumb DC Eats Round 2

The food however, was not impressive for the cost.  I ordered the Park Burger, medium well, and it came out as charred as can be, while the middle of the burger was still dark pink.  This burger was $13, so I would think for a more upscale sandwich that they would be more careful with their food preparation.  I could barely eat half of it due to the charred outside of the burger.  My sister also ordered the Park Burger and also had the same complaint. The fries were good, so I’ll give them that.

While the restaurant itself was unique, I don’t think I would go back to this restaurant.  Too pricy for the food you get and their staff needs to pay more attention to the food they are serving their customers!
